Study Mode Full-Time | Part-Time

You will have the skills and knowledge to create original artworks in a range of areas including painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, 2D and 3D design and textile art. Your skills will be developed through direct investigation and experimentation of techniques and materials. 

You will learn and apply art terms and incorporate a critical approach to the production and presentation of your artwork. You will undertake research and critical analysis of culture and history to inform your arts practice, as well as focus on your personal development, and professional practice in arts business in preparation for the arts industry.

  • You enjoy making and responding to artworks through reflection and self-expression.
  • You want to use your observations and visual enquiry to tell stories in 2D and 3D.
  • You want to build on your technical and craft skills to produce considered artworks.
  • You want to explore meaning in the arts and recognise visual conventions in the creative products of artists and designer-makers.

To make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, please consider the essential skills and knowledge below. You must: 

  • Be able to apply observation, visual inquiry and technical skills to the production and refinement of artworks.
  • Have developed communication skills to discuss the meaning and properties of artworks using art terms and concepts.
  • Apply hand/craft skills to create unique works in a variety of art mediums with attention to detail.
  • Have developed skills in analysing images and ideas and applying critical thinking to evaluate artworks and works in progress.
  • Have good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Understand other peoples’ perspectives and opinions and respect for their views.
  • Be tolerant and willing to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Possess the ability to follow instructions, Work Health and Safety procedures and to avoid safety risks.

Time Commitment: You will need to allocate sufficient time to complete the course. This includes attending classes on-campus and accessing learning materials online. You will also need to undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, practising skills, visual enquiry and completing assessment requirements.
