When you complete this course you will be ready for a career in the accounting industry in roles such as BAS Agents and contract bookkeepers; and of those employees performing bookkeeping tasks for organisations in a range of industries.

You will have the skills and knowledge to prepare and lodge business and instalment activity statements. Individuals in these roles apply theoretical and specialist knowledge and skills to work autonomously, and exercise judgement in completing routine and non-routine activities. Units studied include XERO software for setting up a computerised accounting system and processing payroll. This qualification would also suit candidates wishing to work towards BAS agent registration (Refer to Tax Practitioners Board for current requirements).

This course will give you the skills and knowledge for a career in the Bookkeeping Industry in roles such as a Professional Bookkeeper, Payroll Officer, Business Activity Statement (BAS)* Agent, Accounts Receivable Officer, or Accounts Payable Officer, which are key roles in every business. You will learn how to prepare financial reports, process financial transactions, set up and maintain computerised accounts, establish payroll systems, process business taxation requirements and prepare budgets.

*Successful completion of this course meets only the Tax Practitioners Board academic requirements for registration as a BAS Agent (please refer to the Tax Partitioners Board website for additional BAS registration requirements); and prepares you for entry into the Diploma of Accounting.

This includes attending classes on-site and/or online as outlined in the study mode; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research and complete assessment requirements.
