The Certificate II in Visual Arts aims to develop the basic creative and technical skills that underpin visual arts and craft practice. Students who complete the certificate will
find that it prepares them for the higher-level learning that supports professional art practice.

  • You want to learn how to see, think and communicate in creative ways.
  • You enjoy experimenting with materials to express your creativity including drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking.

To make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, please consider the essential skills and knowledge below. You must: 

  • Have an interest in creative expression and the creative industries.
  • Understand other peoples’ perspectives and opinions and have respect for their views
  • Have communication skills to discuss own work and artworks of others.
  • Be willing to learn how to analyse images and ideas, and to apply critical thinking.
  • Apply hand/craft skills to create unique works in a variety of art mediums.
  • Have organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Be tolerant and willing to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Possess the ability to follow instructions and Work Health and Safety procedures.

Time Commitment: You will need to allocate sufficient time to complete the course. This includes attending classes on-campus and accessing learning materials online. You will also need to undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, practising skills, visual enquiry and completing assessment requirements.
