When you complete this course, you will have skills and knowledge in light automotive servicing technologies, including engines, suspension and steering systems. You will learn how to carry out diagnostic procedures and undertake appropriate repairs as well as identify and apply safe work practices in the Light Automotive Industry. 

Time Commitment – You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on campus as outlined in your training plan; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research, and complete assessment requirements.

  • Workplace safety and environmentally sustainable work practices
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment in an automotive workplace
  • Select and use bearings, seals, gaskets, sealants and adhesives
  • Test and repair basic electrical circuits
  • Test, charge and replace batteries and jump-start vehicles
  • Diagnose and repair many light vehicle systems including charging, starting, ignition, hydraulic braking, steering, clutches, suspension, cooling, engines and drive shafts.
