This pre-Apprenticeship course provides a strong introduction to the Plumbing and Gas Fitting Industry and prepares you for entry into a Certificate III Plumbing apprenticeship. You will develop foundation trade skills, learn to use plumbing tools and equipment safely, understand workplace expectations, and gain insights into water supply, sanitary, drainage, gas fitting basics, and environmental sustainability. Training is delivered through hands-on practical tasks in a workshop environment supported by classroom theory, giving you the confidence to work safely and effectively on real worksites.

Throughout the course you’ll learn how to interpret plans, measure and calculate materials, install basic components, and apply workplace communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Completing this qualification demonstrates to employers that you are motivated, job-ready, and equipped with the essential skills needed to begin a  Plumbing apprenticeship.

  • Identify and install basic water supply, sanitary, and drainage components

Time Commitment:

You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on-site and/or online as outlined in the study mode; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research and complete assessment requirements.

You will need to complete:

Relevant construction industry work practice undertaken concurrently with the delivery of this qualification is mandatory to achieve competency and support the consolidation of student learning and practical skills. Students must complete a minimum of 150 hours of supervised work practice with a licensed plumbing contractor as part of this Pre-Apprenticeship.

  • Planning and Time Management – Organise your work, manage tasks efficiently, and arrive prepared for classes and work placement.
