Registering for SmartRider concessions
Who can register?
If you are a full-time student studying at South Regional TAFE and attending Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, or Esperance campuses where Smartrider is used.
Part-time students are not entitled to concession fares as per Transperth regulations.
How do I register my SmartRider for concessions?
Fill out a copy of the application form which is available online(opens in a new tab) or ask at our front counters, and have it stamped by South Regional TAFE staff before submitting the form using instructions on page 2.
How to validate your SmartRider in Student Portal
You need to validate your Tertiary SmartRider in the Student Portal, by going to your Student Profile and entering your nine digit SmartRider card number (PSN) as a Student Alternate ID.
Students must ‘tag on’ within days of registering their card number so the update can be applied. You don’t have to actually travel to tag the card, but can just quickly tag on then off a service (bus, train station etc.) and this would not incur any default fares.
If you do not activate your SmartRider card within seven days from purchase, your card will automatically revert to a Standard SmartRider card.

To prevent your SmartRider from being used by another person, contact Transperth as soon as possible. You will then need to arrange a new replacement SmartRider card by following the same initial purchase process including validating.
