This course identifies the risks associated with working at heights. Participants will be introduced to safe work practices, regulations and industry codes designed to contain height related work risks.
This course is for anyone who is required to work at height either on a personal or professional level, and who could be at risk of injury as a result of this work.
The course covers:
- Identify work requirements
- Identify work procedures and instructions
- Access and install equipment
- Perform work at heights
- Clean up work area
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a statement of attainment for the following nationally accredited unit: RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights.
- You want to develop skills for industries, where working at heights and managing potential hazards are essential, primarily in Resources and Infrastructure.

- Be able to follow Work Health and Safety procedures and respond to immediate safety risks.
Working at heights training is essential across multiple industries - Construction, Mining, Manufacturing and Agriculture - where you may encounter a need to work safely from heights. This course provides the skills and knowledge to work at heights in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries but is relevant for other sectors. There is a mixture of practical and theoretical activities using industry standard equipment.
Time Commitment – You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on-site and/or online as outlined in the study mode; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research and complete assessment requirements.

- Identifying, monitoring and reassessing risk control measures
- Work Health and Safety law, legislation and standards relating to working at heights.
- System dismantle and pack up.
- Use and maintenance of appropriate PPE.
- Technology - Adapt to new tools, access digital resources, and integrate technology into your learning.
