This two-day short course provides practical skills and knowledge to operate tractors safely in Agricultural and Horticultural settings. You will learn how to conduct pre-start and pre-operational checks, operate tractors under varying conditions, and follow Workplace Health and Safety procedures. Ideal for beginners or those seeking to refresh their skills for employment in Farming or Land Management.

In this course you will learn the knowledge and skills to:

  • Perform pre-start and pre operational checks and routine maintenance
  • Operate tractors safely in different environments
  • Attach and use implements
  • Apply workplace health and safety procedures
  • Shut down/post checks and store equipment correctly

To make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, please consider the essential skills and knowledge below. You must:

  • Value safety in the workplace for yourself and others
  • Be willing to assist in planning for emergency and take action in an emergency
  • Have well-developed communication, English reading and writing skills.
  • Show sound level of fitness to perform emergency operations such as evacuation.
  • Have problem-solving ability.
  • Show good attention to detail.
  • Show ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be able to follow instructions and follow Work Health and Safety procedures. 

Time Commitment

You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending all face-to-face classes on-site.
