Whether you work in the food industry or aspire to, this course covers everything you need to know about handling, storing, and preparing food safely. Learn about proper hygiene practices, hazard analysis, and critical control points to ensure the highest standards of food safety.
This entry-level course for food safety in hospitality will equip you with knowledge in hygienic practices and handling of food. You will learn how to safely store, prepare, display, serve, and dispose of food. Units in this skill set are taken from a nationally recognised qualification and can count towards further study.
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a statement of attainment for the following nationally accredited units:

- Demonstrate well-developed problem-solving skills.

This is a course in food safety. It will equip you with knowledge in hygienic practices and handling of food. You will learn how to safely store, prepare, display, serve, and dispose of food. You will learn about hazard analysis, and critical control points to ensure the highest standards of food safety.
This course has a component of self-directed learning that happens outside of the face-to-face class times that are listed. After enrolment, you will be supplied with the learning materials and a learning plan that outlines the 15 hours of pre-learning required. It is important that you complete this before coming to the face-to-face class, so you have the required knowledge to undertake your assessment. The face-to-face class will be a mixture of theory and practical assessment.
Time Commitment – You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on-site and/or online as outlined in the study mode; undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, and research to successfully complete this course; and complete assessment requirements of this course.
