This course will help you gain the skills and knowledge to shear sheep at a professional standard.

This course is part of the Lower fees, local skills initiative. From 1 January 2020 through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the course fees, capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession, plus resource fees and other fees that may apply to your course.

Study Mode Traineeship
You will have the skills and knowledge to shear sheep to a professional standard with increased speed and accuracy, with knowledge of how the Shearing Industry works, wool quality and Work Health and Safety.

You have completed Certificate II in Shearing and want to develop your skills further.
Please Note: Certificate II is not a requirement for Certificate III.

Be able to cope with varied weather conditions outdoor (e.g., heat, rain, cold, wind).
- Be able to follow Work Health and Safety procedures and respond to immediate safety risks.
This course will help you gain the skills and knowledge to shear sheep at a professional level with speed and accuracy. This requires a high standard of workmanship at a rate of at least 120 adult merino sheep or 140 adult crossbred sheep per day. The shearing industry expects this qualification to be achieved to meet job outcomes at this level. You will also learn how the Shearing Industry works, wool quality and Work Health and Safety.
Time Commitment – You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on-site and/or online as outlined in the study mode; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research and complete assessment requirements.
