This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance with client services. These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.

  • Demonstrate well-developed problem-solving skills. Essential for addressing client concerns and recommending suitable treatments.
  • Have excellent organisational skills. Staying organised will help you maintain a tidy workstation and keep track of tools and appointments.
  • Show good manual dexterity.
  • Be able to follow instructions, Work Health and Safety procedures and the ability to respond to immediate safety risks.
  • Show tolerance, patience and the willingness to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

When you complete this course, you will have the preparatory skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons to assist with client services. You will support Hairdressers in a salon, shampooing, colouring and braiding hair, maintaining hairdressing tools, scheduling appointments and merchandising. These routine tasks will be completed under direct supervision and with guidance of hairdressers who manage the client service.

Time Commitment  You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on-site and/or online as outlined in the study mode; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research and complete assessment requirements.
