This entry level qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge in a range of metals and engineering industry areas including mining, manufacturing and marine. You will gain the essential skills employers are looking for, boosting your chances of securing an apprenticeship in the industry.

Time Commitment – You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on campus and/or online as outlined in the study mode; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research, complete assessment requirements and complete work placement.

You will need to complete:

• 150 hours of mandatory supervised work placement, in a suitable environment, that provides the services in this selected area of study. South Regional TAFE will assist in arranging this suitable work placement within the industry for you.
• Work Placement Journal documenting hours of work and tasks performed.
• Attendance at the work placement regularly and reliably.

• Travel to and from the suitable work environment to complete work placement.

• Work placement times may be outside of standard South Regional TAFE student hours and can vary between placement sites.
