South Regional TAFE Student’s Design Chosen for National Road Safety Program

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

South Regional TAFE is celebrating after Graphic Design student, Adèle Litt’s campaign was selected as part of the national Re:act Road Safety Program.

The Re:act initiative challenges graphic design students across regional Australia to develop campaigns that resonate with their peers. Each project is reviewed by local road safety and industry partners, with one campaign chosen in each location to be rolled out through partner and Re:act networks. The program is funded by the Australian Government Office of Road Safety under the National Road Safety Action Grants Program (NRSAGP).

Adele's campaign, "Alive is the vibe", was selected to represent the Margaret River Region with the concept specially developed to improve road safety awareness among young drivers and workers aged 17 to 25.

For Adèle, a 34-year-old single mother studying her Graphic Design Diploma online through South Regional TAFE’s Margaret River campus, the experience was transformative. “My experience with Re:act was amazing. The panel members were very open and supportive, their encouragement and passion for this campaign was truly enlightening,” she said.

She credited her Lecturer and mentor, Caroline Abbey, for providing constant guidance and encouragement. “Having the support of Caroline was beyond doubt the reason I got over the line and achieved what I did.” Adèle explained that the program not only deepened her understanding of road safety and driver behaviour but also gave her confidence in her design studies. “I learned so much during the campaign, not just about road safety but about what I can achieve in my Diploma. I now know I can go further than I thought I would be capable of doing.”

She also praised South Regional TAFE for its flexibility and support. “South Regional TAFE has been nothing short of outstanding in their ongoing support. Their understanding for flexibility and continuing encouragement that I can do this has helped me immensely in my studies."

Grateful for the opportunity and real-world experience, Adèle encouraged other students to embrace similar challenges. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to join this program and taken the plunge. I encourage future students to do the same.”

With "Alive is the vibe" now launched, Margaret River’s young drivers and workers will see Adèle’s campaign rolled out across local networks, reinforcing the message that staying safe on the road is always the right choice.
