South Regional TAFE’s graphic design preparatory skills course can offer you the freedom and flexibility you need to unleash your creative potential. In just 18 weeks you can learn how to make your print and screen publications look professional. This training is perfect for those intending to pursue a career in graphic design but have little or no design experience, or you just want to gain some design skills to help make your designs look professional.

The preparatory skills training will allow you to:

  • Explore fundamental design skills using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
  • Understand principles of layout, typography and colour
  • Learn skills and techniques for graphic design, digital media and publishing
  • Learn how to communicate with clients and charge for your creative skills

This preparatory skills course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in graphic design when you have little or no design experience, or you just want to gain some design skills to help make your designs look professional. This course will provide you with the pre-requisite skill requirements to apply to enrol for the Diploma of Graphic Design.

Time Commitment – You will need to allocate sufficient time to complete the course. This includes attending classes on-campus and accessing learning materials online. You will also need to undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, practising skills, visual enquiry and completing assessment requirements.
