To make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, please consider the essential skills and knowledge below. You must:
- Have an interest in working with clay, ceramic processes and techniques including hand-building, decorating and glazing
- Demonstrate an ability to explore ceramics made by others over time, and to follow the design process
- Express an interest in creative expression and the Creative Industries
- Possess good communication skills
- Understand other peoples’ perspectives and opinions and respect for their views
- Able to follow instructions, Work Health and Safety procedures, and avoid safety risks
This introductory course focuses on hand-building clay techniques, including decorating and glazing. It is designed for anyone keen to learn aspects of ceramics and to begin to understand the design process. You will work at your own pace while you create some unique ceramic pieces.
Time Commitment You will need to allocate sufficient time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on campus and/or online; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research, and complete assessment requirements.
