Jam Room 101 Skill Set
This skill set is for anyone who is excited to meet new people whilst creating music in a group setting. Through a combination of individual practice and group exercises you will gain the skills and confidence to attend local events. Beginners through to experienced musicians are all welcome.

Jam Room 101 is designed for students aiming to begin, increase or continue their participation with local music making. Those completing this skillset can then audition to join the full-time Certificate II in Music course. They can also engage in non-TAFE options as attending local open mic nights, Catch Music, School of Rock, or engaging a private music tutor.

To make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, please consider the essential skills and knowledge below. You must:
- Have an interest in the Music Industry and creative expression.
- Possess basic music skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrate good communication skills.
- Show understanding of other peoples’ perspectives and opinions and respect their views.
- Demonstrate Collaboration and work proactively with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

This course is designed to offer you an opportunity to begin, increase or continue your participation with local music making. When you complete this course, you can enrol in the Jam Room 102 Skill Set and/or audition to join the full-time Certificate II in Music course. You may also like to engage in non-South Regional TAFE options such as attending local open mic nights, Catch Music, School of Rock, or engaging a private music tutor.
Time Commitment
You will need to allocate sufficient time to complete the course. This includes attending classes on-site and accessing resources online. You will need to undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, practising music skills, learning more about music and the creative industries, and completing assessment requirements.
