This introductory skill set is designed for individuals who want to explore the creative and technical world of game development. You’ll learn how to design and produce 3D models, environments, and visual components for interactive games using industry-standard tools and workflows. Delivered online with collaborative tutorials and simulated studio projects, this course provides a strong foundation for further study or entry-level roles in game art and design. Build your portfolio, develop problem-solving skills, and gain hands-on experience with real-world briefs.
This course remains FEE FREE in 2025! The course fees are 100 per cent subsidised by the WA State Government for WA residents.

In this course you will learn the knowledge and skills to:
- Use 3D software interfaces and toolsets effectively
- Design and create 3D digital models
- Prepare and complete image rendering processes
- Develop 3D components for interactive games
- Create visual design components for interactive games

- 20 weeks with a short break
- 4 hours/week lectures
- 30 minutes/week Tutorials

Learning System
- South Regional TAFE uses the online learning system, Blackboard and Teams for Meetings
- You will receive a schedule for submitting tasks and assessments.
- Regular attendance in online classes is crucial for successful completion
Online classes
- Two online classes every week – approx. 120 minutes each class
- Each class is approximately 120 minutes
- First class February, 2026
- The classes cover the week’s learning area
- Time in class for questions and software demonstrations
- Each class is recorded and is available for review
Weekly Tutorials:
- Discuss current learning topics
- Review work in progress for feedback
- Address any technical support needs
- Help keep you on track and ensure regular access to support
Independent Study (approx. 20 hrs / Week)
- You will need spend time independently developing your project.
- Weekly tasks to be completed independently.
