To make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, please consider the essential skills and knowledge below. You must:

  • Enjoy manual work and have a good level of physical fitness.
  • Have well-developed ability to communicate with others.
  • Show ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow instructions, Work Health and Safety procedures and work to deadlines.
  • Have good hand-eye coordination and strong spatial awareness.
  • Display well-developed planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Have good colour vision.

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work in the Painting and Decorating Industry. You will learn how to prepare and protect surfaces, colour match, use the tools of the trade, interpret plans and apply work health and safety requirements.

You will be required to work with different types of paints and solvents which may cause health issues for people with sensitive skin, allergies or respiratory issues. Personal protective equipment is available for use during this course.

Time Commitment â€“ You will need to allocate appropriate time to complete this course. This includes attending classes on campus and/or online as outlined in your training plan; and undertake independent study outside of class hours, including private study, assessment preparation, research, and complete assessment requirements.
