Start your career operating process plant equipment
Build foundation skills for process manufacturing industries such as chemical, hydrocarbons and resources. You’ll learn to operate and monitor equipment, interpret process data, apply safety procedures, and handle routine issues. Training blends face‑to‑face, online and workplace learning with industry-experienced trainers. Suited to new or current workers, the course runs around 18 months and includes 16 units to develop practical and problem-solving skills for safe plant operations.

When All year round

Study Mode Traineeship

Develop the practical and theoretical skills required to safely operate and monitor process plant equipment in a production environment. You will learn how to use plant systems, interpret process information, follow work health and safety procedures, and respond to routine operational problems. The course also builds your ability to work effectively in a team, communicate in the workplace, and apply sustainable and quality-focused practices while carrying out process operations.

  • Be able to follow emergency procedures in the workplace
  • Have well-developed communication, English reading and writing skills.
  • Show sound level of fitness to perform emergency operations such as evacuation.
  • Be able to conduct basic measurements and identify the cause of common problems within the process
  • Show good attention to detail.
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Be able to follow instructions and follow Work Health and Safety procedures. 

Time Commitment: On average, you should expect to commit around 6 hours per week over 18 months, including completing online theory, participating in practical workplace activities, and undertaking assessment tasks. Additional time may be required for independent study, revision, and assessment preparation.
