Be physically capable of meeting assessment requirements, including performing CPR to meet the required standard. 

You MUST be able to meet the physical assessment requirements to ensure you can perform an actual resuscitation, in an emergency as a first aider.

Managing an unconscious person and the recovery position. 

Performing CPR in an emergency (adult and infant) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. 

Providing first aid for a range of conditions (e.g., cardiac arrest, choking, bleeding, head injury / concussion, burns / scalds, heat stroke / hypothermia, allergic reaction / anaphylaxis, shock, bites / stings, fractures / sprains / strains and medical conditions). 

Infection control and personal safety. 

Communicating details of the incident to emergency services and complete a workplace incident form. 

Understanding the legal considerations and welfare needs post incident, including awareness of potential need for stress management techniques and available support for rescuers.
