This skillset is designed for beginners who have a vision but don’t quite have the skills yet to bring it to life. 

Across this hands-on skillset, you’ll dive into the essentials of how a digital camera works, explore the power of manual settings, and learn how to shape light, motion and mood through shutter speed, aperture and ISO. You will learn theory which you will then get to put into practice. 

Expect a mix of engaging demonstrations, guided practice, and real creative tasks that build your confidence week by week. From capturing sharp action shots to crafting beautifully blurred backgrounds, you’ll experiment, problem solve and discover your own photographic style in a supportive, enjoyable environment.

By the end, you’ll be shooting with intention, understanding your camera inside out, and creating images that finally match the ideas in your head.

Time Commitment - You will need to allocate sufficient time to complete the course. This includes attending classes on-campus and accessing learning materials online. You will also need to undertake independent study outside of class hours, including, practising skills and completing assessment requirements.

    • Editing on computer
    • Scanning photographs into digital images
    • Photography genres - find your own style
    • Review your work and learn from feedback
    • Effectively storing your files
  • Technology: Use traditional art and craft tools and techniques and integrate digital technology into your learning.
